Brooklyn Center Market Overview

Brooklyn Center is located in the northwest portion of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro and commercial real estate market. The community is a first-ring suburb that borders the city of Minneapolis, as well as the Mississippi River. Several major highways and interstates pass through Brooklyn Center, giving residents easy access to the greater Twin Cities. The city is part of the Northwest Submarket, which borders the Mississippi River and is comprised of the cities of Maple Grove, Rogers, Champlin, Brooklyn Park, Osseo, Robbinsdale, Crystal, and a portion of North Minneapolis. The region is also home to several large employers, including North Memorial Medical Center (5,000 employees) and Boston Scientific (3,000 employees). Brooklyn Center’s largest employers are Promeon Inc., A Division of Medtronic (1,100 employees) and Hennepin County (9,300 employees - although not all located in Brooklyn Center). The corporate headquarters for Caribou Coffee is also located in Brooklyn Center and employs 200 workers. The Shingle Creek Crossing regional shopping center is the primary retail hub for Brooklyn Park residents and surrounding communities, although the city is largely a bedroom community and an industrial job center, not necessarily a major retail destination.
